More on Sajid Nadiadwala! The enterprising producer is all set to start his new film, with a new director yet again. JAAN-E-MANN was directed by first-timer Shirish Kunder, HEYY BABYY by a debutante again, Sajid Khan and now, Nadiadwala’s next film will be directed by a newcomer yet again, Saabir Khan. The film is called KAMBAKHT ISHQ.

“Saabir has been with us for a long time now,” Nadiadwala informs me. The producer has already roped in buddy Akshay Kumar to enact the principal role. “Besides Akshay, KAMBAKHT ISHQ will star a number of Hollywood actors. In fact, we’re already in talks with them,” Nadiadwala states. The film will be shot in Los Angeles, U.S.A. from November onwards.

It’s currently very hush-hush …and rush-rush.Warner Brothers first Bollywood film Made In China, with Ramesh and Rohan Sippy of Sholay-Bluff Master fame serving as the Indian producers, will start shooting in China from January 2008.

Shanghai, Beijing and a village near Beijing are the locations selected for India’s first film to be shot in China.

Even more unique is the maritial arts discipline selected to make the actioner look virgin-virile.

Akshay Kumar who hasn’t done a full-on action film in seven years, is currently joined at the ‘hype’ with his lissome co-star Deepika Padukone to train in a subtle strain of martial arts known as Wushu whose chief practitioner on the large screen so far have been Jackie Chan and Jet Lee.

Akshay Kumar has always idolized Jackie Chan and has to an extent, modeled his career on his Chinese peer. In Made In China he gets to do a full-on homage to his idol. Read the rest of this entry »

Mumbai, Sep 2 (IANS) Akshay Kumar, who hasn’t done a full-on action film in seven years, is undergoing training in the martial art form called Wushu with co-star Deepika Padukone for Warner Brothers’ first Bollywood film “Made In China”.

So far, the chief practitioners of Wushu on the large screen have been Jackie Chan and Jet Lee. Akshay has always idolised Jackie Chan and has to an extent modelled his career on the Chinese action hero. In “Made In China” he gets to do a full-on homage to his idol.

“Akshay has been a martial arts student for years,” director Nikhil Advani told IANS. “The Wushu style is very big in China. Jet Li and Jackie Chan constantly practice it,” he added.

Apparently, the script was written with Akshay in mind.

Advani said: “My writer Sridhar Raghavan and my Indian producer Rohan Sippy designed the film with Akshay in mind. It was either Akshay or no one else for the role. We needed a lead pair who could do the action scenes with the grace of dancers. Both Deepika and Akshay are phenomenal dancers and athletes.”

“Made in China”, with Ramesh and Rohan Sippy serving as the Indian producers, will start shooting in China from Jan 2008.

Shanghai, Beijing and a village near the Chinese capital are the locations selected for India’s first film to be shot in China.

It will be shot at a stretch in six months from January to May. Akshay and Deepika will be in China for almost six months, with their respective families coming in and out of the country.

Review: Heyy Babyy

August 25th, 2007 by admin

Heyy Babyy
Cast: Akshay Kumar, Riteish Kumar, Fardeen Khan, Vidya Balan
Direction: Sajid Khan
Rating: **

Don’t nappy, be happy. Legs-lips-`n’-limbs of bimbos are the obsessions of three blokes, one of whom even croaks, “I carry more condoms than money in my pockets,” rolling his merry-go-round eyes out of their sockets. Hee hee?

Just about. But you also go chhee chee as Heyy Babyy, directed by Sajid Khan, indulges in execrable humour, striving to set off mirth ripples with dirty talk about underpants (not washed for a week, it seems), toilet humour and nipples. Enough to make you want to run out for a tipple.

So okay, Mr Khan may have shouted himself hoarse that he hasn’t ripped off Hollywood’s Three Men and a Baby (technically he may be correct, because he could have just ransacked the original French version). Hello, but till the intermission point it’s nothing but that – milking laughs out of emergency baby feeds, poop and what the dialogue innovatively calls “bummies.” Hang on to your groaning tummies.
