Kaafila may have come under the hammer by critics for numerous reasons but what critics as well as audience completely ignored were the well orchestrated action sequences; especially the ones that were canned once the second half of the film begins and story moves to Afghanistan.
As the horde of men (and women) get into chase sequences in the desert dunes, is it impossible not to remember Hollywood classic Lawrence of Arabia which was made decades back.
While Lawrence of Arabia [1963] starring Peter O’Toole as T.E. Lawrence had it’s entire plot and action set in the deserts, Kaafila with Sunny Deol in lead too has a substantial portion of the film’s script narrating the plight of the Afghanistanis and their battle with the Taliban. It is during this episode of the Kaafila comprising of dozen odd men which traverses continents that desert sequences come into play.
