Sanjay Dutt will shoot for Alibaug

Putting to rest all speculations on Sanjay Dutt’s future acting plans, his close friend Sanjay Gupta says Dutt will resume shooting for Alibaug in Mumbai. “Right now I’m in Goa shooting with the entire cast of Alibaug barring Sanju. But he joins us later in Mumbai to complete his work.”

Sanjay Dutt has already completed one schedule of Alibaug in Mumbai after which he was incarcerated. He’s expected to join the Alibaug team later during the month. Says Gupta, “There’s absolutely no question of Alibaug without Sanjay Dutt. He’s the film’s backbone.”

In the meanwhile another of Dutt’s buddies Bunty Walia is going full-steam ahead with his plans of making Lamha with Sanjay Dutt.

“I’m giving Sanju a completely new look for Lamha. We start shooting next year,” informs Bunty.

Movie Review: Dhamaal

September 8th, 2007 by admin

Author : Indu Mirani Date : 9/8/2007 Films Reviews

Direction: Indra Kumar

Cast: Sanjay Dutt, Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi, Javed Jaffery, Ashish Chowdhry

Rating: **

It isn’t Christmas but it sure is the season of good cheer. It’s also the season of male bonding and evidently the two together make for a lethal combination. If we’re not careful, girls might actually become redundant. Some weeks ago there was ‘Partner’ with Salman Khan and Govinda bonding over the whys and hows of charming the ladies. Then there was ‘Heyy Babyy’ with three men (Akshay Kumar, Riteish and Fardeen Khan) going through all sorts of trials and tribulations to look after an abandoned baby. Significantly, the good times turned to melodrama as soon as the sole girl in the film, Vidya Balan, made her appearance.

This week there’s ‘Dhamaal’, (culled from ‘It’s A Mad Mad Mad Mad World’, 1963) with four layabouts Roy, Adi, Manav and Boman (Riteish, Arshad, Javed and Ashish) never quite able to lay their hands on money till fate points them towards the pot of gold, 10 crore buckaroos, no less, but also crosses their path with super cop Kabir Nayak (Sanjay Dutt). As they try to outwit him and eventually each other to claim the prize, they run into characters and situations, all calculated to create maximum ‘Dhamaal’. Read the rest of this entry »

Sanjay Dutt tickles a funny bone in Dhamaal

September 3rd, 2007 by admin

Mumbai: Comedy seems to be the flavour of the season. And the new film is Indra Kumar’s Dhamaal that stars Sanjay Dutt.

After Masti and Pyare Mohan, Indra Kumar is back with comedy again. Dhamaal stars Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Ritesh Deshmukh and Javed Jafferi in lead roles. The man who once gave hits like Dil, Beta, Raj and Ishq, wanted to go back to his emotional and romantic stories this time but his children forced him into comedy.

“My children were pestering me for a long time. They said, you make comedy films dad, why do you want to make a serious movie now. I said, I will make a emotional film, will make people cry. They said we are not interested in seeing your emotional film. We want comedy. You make comedy. I wasn’t listening to them initially but then thought why not give it a try. Because they are the youth, they are the audience of today,” said Indra Kumar, Director, Dhamaal. Read the rest of this entry »

What has Sanju learnt in Jail

August 28th, 2007 by admin

By Subhash K Jha

While in jail in Pune, Sanjay Dutt discovered the virtues of the ancient art of letter-writing. If nothing else the intermittent and unbearably painful periods of incarceration have made him into an able and expressive writer.

Says one of the now-free-on-bail hero’s closest buddies, “In jail the easiest and most reliable means of communication is the Indian postal service. Some of us who are his close friends who wanted him to know we’re with him during his solitude, sent letters by Speed Post which were duly and prompted delivered to him.”

Though censored and then delivered to the star-inmate in Pune jail, these letters from close friends were the the only source of succour for Sanjay in jail and have made him a firm believer in the old and reliable system of communication through epistles.

Now out an an interim bail Sanjay is a very disturbed man. Read the rest of this entry »

Sanjay, Priya Dutt say thank you

August 24th, 2007 by admin

Sanjay Dutt is free, though temporarily.

The actor, sentenced to six years rigorous imprisonment under the Arms Act, was finally released from Yerwada jail on bail this morning. But before he was released, crowds thronged outside the jail, as well as his Bandra home in Mumbai, hoping for a glimpse of their favourite actor.

The actor, who was overwhelmed by the public adulation, had this to say:

In all humility, I thank all those who prayed for me during this period of my life. I thank all those who stood by me and my family and supported us so firmly. I also thank all my fans in Pune who stood outside the jail waiting for me. I’m sorry I could not meet you all but thank you for your prayers. I was overwhelmed by your love. I could hear you when I was inside the jail, and your love kept me strong. Read the rest of this entry »
