Subhash Ghai and Sunny Deol together

Subhash Ghai and Sunny Deol have never worked together, despite the fact that both have been associated with numerous hits. Now, the two will be seen working together, but Subhash Ghai won’t be directing the film and will only be associated as producer.

Neeraj Pathak, who had penned Ghai’s ‘Pardes’ and this year’s hit ‘Apne’, has turned director with a film called ‘Right Or Wrong’.

The film will be a joint venture between Icon Pictures, of which Neeraj Pathak is one of the partners and Subhash Ghai’s Mukta Arts. The film will be action thriller and it will go on the floor in September.

Bollywood finally opens up on its underworld nexus

Mumbai: Abu Salem’s statements have once again dragged a rather reticent Bollywood into the limelight for its alleged links with the underworld.

The film industry has seen many allegations in the past, about filmmakers and actors interacting with the underworld, and now Bollywood has spoken out.

“The reason why this nexus existed was because we didn’t have the stature of an industry and the banks were never ready to finance a film,” filmmaker Anurag Basu told CNN-IBN. Read the rest of this entry »

Salem talk rubbish, I got ‘D’ call, never paid: Ghai

New Delhi: Reacting to revelations made by underworld don Abu Salem during the gangster’s narco test, filmmaker Subhash Ghai rubbished reports of his connection with the underworld.

Under the influence of truth serum, Salem had coughed up names of a few Bollywood bigwigs. Transcripts of the confessions now out in the media, suggest Salem coughed up names of director Subhash Ghai, Rakesh Roshan and JP Dutta.

Ghai, however, has rubbished the reports and said he has no connection with the underworld.

“This has reference to reports in certain sections of the media that I paid Rs 25 lakhs to the underworld. There is no truth to the said report,” Ghai said. Read the rest of this entry »

David Dhawan ‘partners’ with Ghai

David Dhawan After the success of Partner, Subhash Ghai invited David Dhawan to speak about cinema to the students at his film school. Dhawan was more than happy to oblige. A special screening of the film was organized for the students, and later Dhawan spoke about his ’school of cinema’.

The film became a case study of sorts for those aspiring to be a professional in filmdom. Looks like every time is show-time for the showman’sstudents.
